Edison's Personal Page
To all my friends, colleagues, and family,
As an individual who immersed myself in technology for most of my adult life as my career and passion, I was not known to be a very active or outdoorsy person… But as I’ve grown older, bore witness to more events during my life, and experienced the passing of some of my friends to cancer, I began feeling the need for change in the direction of how I wanted to progress, and evolve as a person.
After joining UBC in early 2013, I was blessed by becoming friends with many incredibly talented and caring people, who over the years have greatly inspired me to expand my horizons, my understanding of many ideas, and giving me the courage to start on the voyage of rediscovering myself, and what I am capable of achieving.
In December of 2015, while out on one of my walks of campus, I found myself stopping, looking up at the sky pondering absent friends, and I finally made the decision to participate in the Ride To Conquer Cancer, in honour of those whom I’ve known on my journey who’ve had to suffer thru this terrible disease, some of which are no longer with us, and who I miss dearly. I must extend a heart felt thank you to my colleagues who first introduced me to Ride to Conquer Cancer, and the emotional inspirations for participating in this incredible event!
The 2016 ride has now come and gone, and has left me feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment having completed it, and meeting so many incredible and inspiring individuals on my trek! For the first few weeks I experienced what amounted to RTCC hangover! Now, I’m fired up and am preparing for my 2017 ride! I’ve even equipped myself with proper gear so I won’t suffer the teasing of my fellow riders this time (yes that means you Joel ;) )!
It is my hope that, one day, with the help of so many of you who participate in RTCC, and other cancer research events all around the world, that we’ll be able to find a cure for this disease and rid Humanity of it, so that no one else will have to endure the pain and suffering of those who’ve experienced it in our time.
Enough of our loved ones having been lost, enough having to watch those we cherish suffer thru it. It’s time to eradicate it.
With your support, we’ll make a difference in this fight, together!
Let the adventure begin!
My Personal Web Log
I just sent out my first email of the drive for 2017 RTCC, but realized the system didn't properly format the content the way I intended... MY BAD!
Gotta love technology eh?
I'm hoping all of you I've reached out to who've supported me in a phenomenal 2016 will help me on my journey in 2017 once more to beat cancer!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
