Know What Matters
In the spring of 1980 we learned about the devastating effects of Cancer as Terry Fox united a country and inspired awareness of something greater than maple syrup, curling and hockey. Within a few short years of this national awakening both my grandfathers fought Cancer, Grandpa Steve passed from Stomach Cancer while Grandpa Glen suvived Colon Cancer. Today we are all touched by this terrible disease and incredibly 2 out of every 5 Canadians will suffer from Cancer in their lifetime. These odss mean that you or I, or someone close to us will also need the best research and medical care possible. This ride helps to make sure that is possible.
Inspired by other Cancer fighting heros, this is my 6th year of participation... from 2013 to 2015 I was a rider and worked hard to help our team raise more than $200,000 for cancer research. In 2016 I continued to support my Cycletrons teammates and other riders with donations and morale support along the route and last year I was back in the saddle again as a rider.
Which brings us to 2018 - this will be my 5th year as a rider and I am very proud that TYCROP has sponsored this year's event, has it's own team for the very first time - the "ProPedalers", and will be hosting a rest stop on day 2 of the ride in Rosedale, BC.
I am asking for your help once again because the funds raised support life-saving research and continuously improving modern treatments and technologies - and I remain hopeful that our efforts together could help save the people that matter in your life and in mine.
I am sincerely grateful for any help you can give - if you have decided to contribute today, please click on the "Donate Now" button at the top of this page.
THANK YOU, Scott
