Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Welcome to my Personal Page! Wheaton Precious Metals Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting BC Cancer Foundation, is a two-day cycling journey, through Canada's Pacific region taking place in the summer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
Contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care made possible through BC Cancer Foundation, a leader in cancer research and care.
There are as many reasons to ride as there are riders in this journey. We have all been touched by cancer wether it be a family member, a friend or a co-worker. We can’t wish this disease away, we need to take action. Over the past 9 years a lot of money has been raised through this Ride and much progress has been made but still more needs to be done so one day we can beat this disease.
I consider it an honor to ride in this event but I also feel that for me it is a duty too as I am myself a prostate cancer survivor. My first ride was on the 1 year anniversary of my surgery so to a very large degree it's just giving back. I'm not a real emotional guy but every year when I see all the riders at the start line it brings me back and makes me realize how very fortunate I am.
I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank all my friends, family, co-workers and Church family for the enormous support you all showed over the past 5 years, I can't tell you how much it means to me and how appreciated it is.
At the beggining of 2017 I was thinking that this would be my last ride, I thought that reaching my 5 year milestone would be a pretty good accompishment but like so many other times in my life I was wrong. This ride has taken me through many challenges but has taught me a lot of lifes lessons along the way. I have also met some amazing people with amazing stories of courage and perserverance. Our world it seems can be a selfish place where we go through the day by day stuff focusing on ourselves with little to no regard for others. When I participate in this ride however I realize that the human condition may be still well and good, seeing others giving to help people they dont even know is such an unselfish act and so wonderfull to see and be a part of.
The 2017 ride was the best one I have done: fantastic weather, no wind and no rain, I didnt even have a flat this year! Unbelievable, and next year it's going to be entirely in Canada which is awesome, not that I don't like America or Americans but I am Canadian eh. My prayer is that by having the ride in the province the money will be going will help bring more exposure and awareness to the ride and possibly even attract more participants since we now will not have to go throught he hassle of the border.
What can I say I have been inspired and rejuvinated after last year so once again I will particpate in this event. I am also recruiting so if you want a truly EPIC experience please join me in 2018 as we head to HOPE !!
Note that many years ago this disease could have ended my life but thanks to the research from The BC Cancer foundation my experience was quick, effective and as comfortable as a major surgery could be.
Early detection is so important
**** Guys over 40 please take note and learn from this. Get a PSA test it is a simple blood test that could save your life. There are no real symptoms for this disease, The statistics say 1 in 7 men will be affected by prostate cancer.**********
Thank you in advance for your help.
