Fighting Cancer 1km at a time!
Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Thank you for taking the time to read my personal page!
You are most likely here right now because you received an email link from our EB Horsman riding team about The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting BC Cancer Foundation. This is a two-day cycling journey, from Vancouver, British Columbia to Seattle, Washington. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my team, my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
I do need to take a moment to let you know why I'm personally taking on this challenge today. Honestly I get emotional just starting to type this.
1st of all Cancer has struck many people that are so close to me in my personal and professional life. Friends and families closest to me have been devastated by the battle with cancer. Many have survived because of the treatment they've received from the BC Cancer Foundation. Unfortunately too many haven't survived and the loss of a father, mother, brother, sister, relative, coworker is devastating. In either case, no one involved in the battle is ever the same. To respect privacy I won't list the names of people close to me that have inspired me to take part in this fundraising initiative but it is a long and growing list, seemingly no one is immune to the disease. At our EB Horsman Supplier Appreciation golf tournament last week I ask the people in the room to stand up if they had been impacted by cancer, personally or by 1 degree of separation. Of the 135 people in the room approximately 122 stood up. Imagine that, almost 90% of those in the room have been impacted to some degree.
2nd of all, I feel grateful that today I can do something. Having recently had back surgery (no comparison to cancer) I've come to appreciate health cannot be taken for granted. I feel blessed that I can get back on a bike and use it for a greater purpose. Each day is a gift and we need to make the most of our time here. I have health, support and means to be able to do something meaningful to benefit those in need of the BC Cancer Foundation.
Some simple math tells me that if my contacts, that would be you, simply donated $10 to this cause I could raise $10,000; a $100 donation could mean $100,000 (dare to dream) and so it grows. The phrase, "Many hands make light work" is truly significant here!
I appreciate you likely have charities that you are supporting so please don't over-extend yourself, just please donate something.
So with that said, don't over think this, just please donate now!
... and ... to further motivate you, I will donate an additional $10,000 to the BC Children's Hospital fund if you help me break my personal $10,000 Ride to Conquer Cancer target over the next 6 weeks.
Thank you for your time and consideration!!
