Welcome to My Personal Page
In March, I flew back to the UK in a rush because my 32 year old sister Sarah was dying of Cancer. She died the day after I got home. It is in her memory that I will be riding this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer.
Sarah’s cancer story started 5 years ago with the discovery of a lump in her breast. She got it checked out and soon a whirlwind journey started, involving multiple surgeries, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. A year or so went by and things started to settle down, remission. Then a couple of years ago the cancer returned and came back hard, spreading to her lungs and brain. The cancer had metastasized, there is no current cure for metastatic breast cancer.
For some a couple of days riding a bike is no big deal. For me this will very much be a big deal, I’m not in great shape and this will be hard. You can follow my training here: https://www.strava.com/athletes/6479550
My Sister’s philosophy centered on living not dying, seeking new experiences, focusing on the good and striving to better oneself. It is in that spirit I will be riding to Seattle
Sarah's favorite quote:
I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.
