I'm riding for Daryl Clark and team Heidelberg Hope
We have all been touched by Cancer. I’m doing the RTCC for Daryl Clark and for the Heidelberg Hope.
My goal and our team’s goal are to get Daryl a lifeline as quickly as possible.
We are trying to bring a potential life-saving treatment to British Columbia that has the potential to save Daryl, as well as others with metastatic prostate cancer. The team’s goal is to raise over a half a million dollars towards a $4mm budget ($1mm has already been raised!)
Aptly named, Daryl’s Heidelberg Hope, this is a new treatment developed in Germany that has had tremendous efficacy rates, and we want to bring it to BC.
75% of patients who were given two to four months to live were not only alive six months after receiving the treatment, their tumours had shrunk and they had lower levels of PSMA in their blood. The really great thing is that this treatment kills cancer cells wherever they reside – the bones, lymph nodes, soft tissue organs or simply in the bloodstream.
Daryl suffers from three of these four indications and has been told (repeatedly) that his situation will get worse. This link shows the results of three trials that have been done in Germany and they look to be very positive: https://prostatecancerinfolink.net/2016/04/26/lutetium-177-linked-to-psma-an-update/
We have met with Sarah Roth, CEO of the BC Cancer Foundation and Dr. Francois Benard, head of Research at the BC Cancer Agency many times. We have their full commitment (this will be a collaboration with BCCA, VGH and UBC), a defined budget with deliverables and a timeline. The intent is to start two clinical trials in the Fall.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer will be August 26 and 27th from Vancouver to Seattle, but the race begins today! Thanks very much for your support!
