Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Dear Family and Friends, I am riding to Conquer Cancer for “Team Doug.” Doug Angrove was my Fire Chief when I first began my career with the Victoria Fire Department. He was a Fire Fighter from an early age as Volunteer and later a career Fire Fighter working his way through the ranks to Victoria Fire Chief. He was a family man, accomplished athlete (hockey and lacrosse) and highly respected fireman and leader. Sadly, Chief Angrove passed away May 12/2017 at the age of 59 after a short battle with brain cancer. Doug's passing has greatly affected our fire department and we think of him every day. This August, I will ride in memory of Doug and with the hope that one day soon there will be a cure for cancer.
We have 24 members from the Victoria Fire Department team participating in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer 2017” from Vancouver to Seattle in August in his name. Each rider is raising funds for cancer research and I would appreciate any support you may be able to provide through donation.
I have never participated in an event of this scale, especially in cycling so this is a huge undertaking for me. However, not as great as the battle that so many others face in fighting cancer. I accept this challenge with great honor to Ride for “Team Doug” and all those who have had and are still battling this terrible disease.
Thank you for your support,
