Why I'm Doing the Ride
Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
I've decided to ride down to Seattle with 3 of my favourite people to raise money for a cause so near to my heart and this is why:
As some of you may know, over the past couple of years a few of my family members and close family friends have been diagnosed with cancer. As each one got ready to fight the big fight, I realized the importance of fundraising events like this one. My step-dad Brian and Aunt Alix were able to get the treatment necessary for remission and are still here today because of the research & funding provided by organizations like the BC Cancer Agency. I'm forever indebted to every single person who contributes to organizations like this. It is because of your generousity that these two people are still in my life.
Unfortunately this year, I learned that we still have a long way to go in terms of finding a cure. Losing my Uncle Stu has been heartbreaking. Those who knew Stu knew he was always down for an ice cold beer, had the best belly laugh, and gave the most comforting bear hugs. He had this unique ability to impact someone's life through a simple conversation. He was a remarkable human being and we miss him every single day. I'm doing this ride with my Auntie Gerri, my cousin Christine and my sister Vanessa. We're doing this for Stu. It's our way of celebrating the man who loved us all so dearly while contributing to one day finding a cure so no one will ever have to feel this type of loss again.
In order to do the ride, each person on our team must raise $2500.00. We will be hosting fundraisers throughout the next two months to help reach our goal and would love to see you all there. You can also donate directly through our donation pages. We all know cancer f*cking sucks but I have hope. I know that with each dollar we raise we are that much closer to finding a cure and that's why I'm doing the ride.
Thank you so much for your support. You will never know how much it means to me and my family.
