Sporting Spandex to Crush Cancer ~ Please Support this Ride!
Western & Friends Ride to Conquer Cancer Team
Since 2009, the Ride has raised $70 million for the BC Cancer Foundation and is B.C.'s largest cycling fundraiser.
In 2013, 6 Western staff took on this two-day cycling challenge and subsequent annual rides have continued to build momentum through new riders and incredible fundraising successes for this great cause.
In 2016, Team WFP & Friends raised over $89k for the BC Cancer Foundation.
In 2017, we've raised over $93k and your donation will help get us to our goal of $100k in donations for this powerful movement and our highest fundraising total in team history.
My Motivation --> F**k Cancer!
I was inspired to join this ride from, and have used as my motivation, the memories of family and friends effected by this horrible disease; and, the optimism I've gained from witnessing first-hand how cancer research can create treatment that extends and improves the quality of life of those battling cancer.
Until very recently I had never biked 50km in a day nevermind +220km over two days; I didn't own a bike; and I'm not exactly areodynamic. This will be a challenge in a number of ways but with my motivation and our genorosity, we will make a real impact!
Adding to that, I'll be joining some incredible people on this ride, including Kate (fantastic wife), Erin (superfast cousin) and Ryan (supercool cousin), and a great group of coworkers and friends. Dave (awesome bro-in-law) has been felled by a broken foot recently but I'm told he'll be our loudest cheerleader...
Funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer support life-saving research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond.
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
