Olivia's Ride to Conquer Cancer 2017
Cancer, I am so over you.
I'm over what you have done to my family, my friends, my patients.
I'm over watching six year olds learn the names of their chemotherapies instead of learning to read.
I'm over families living in a Bone Marrow Transplant isolation bubble instead of teaching their child to ride a bike outside.
I'm over watching parents transform into superheroes, as they watch their baby in the fight of ther life.
I'm over watching teens be braver than they should have to be while they track their blood counts instead of applying to universities.
I'm over you stealing people before its time to go.
This year, I ride for the Brave Ones who battle and exist with cancer, and all of the ugly parts that come with it, each and every day. The ones who don't get to clock in and clock out of the oncology world. The ones who don't get to go home and laugh/cry it off at the end of the day. I am challenged and inspired by you each and every day. I cherish the privilege of watching your growth and your journey, as you evolve and overcome adversity like you could never have previously fathomed. You inspire me in a way that words will never be able to explain. But you do not deserve this experience.
I honour you.
Please give with your heart, as I ride over 250 km from Vancouver to Seattle again their year with the 2017 Ride to Conquer Cancer. The funds that I raise will be allocated towards childhood cancers - an area that has developing therapies that desperately need continued research.
As always, I ride in tribute to my grandmother, Beenie. My inspiration.
Thank you to my friends and family for your continued support.
