Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Like so many others I know, cancer has affected my life in many ways. From friends, grandparents and great-grandparents, to my mom's battle with breast cancer, and my partner's dad's battle with brain cancer. In 2016, I fought my own battle with cancer. No one can prepare you for those three words; "You have cancer".
My fight began in March of 2016, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer, stage 1b1 squamous cell carcinoma. What followed was a surgery, fertility preservation, 25 radiation treatments, brachetherapy and chemotherapy.
The journey over the last year has been emotional, painful, but also a powerful one. I've learned that I am a fighter, that I am stronger than I give myself credit for. That doesn't meant that this was an easy journey. My life will never be the same and that is something that I will continue to process, and learn to accept.
It still feels weird to say that "I am a cancer survivor". But I am. Because I am a survivor, I want to give back to this community by raising funds for more life-saving treatments. Cancer is only a diagnosis, it doesn't define you. I want to support research that will prevent others from having to go through this journey.
I am thrilled to join Team OVCARE this year. They are leaders in Ovarian Cancer Research, breaking new ground in improving the identification, understanding, and treatment of this disease. I am honored to ride with such an inspirational group who are truly making a difference in gyneacological cancers.
Please consider contributing to this powerful movement with a donation. Your genorosity can have a real impact on the lives of others. Funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond. I am grateful to the doctors and staff at BC Cancer Agency who guided me through this journey.
On August 26th & 27th, I ride for all those who have battled cancer, and for all the loved ones who have supported them.
Thank you for all your support!
