Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Hi! Thank you for checking out my personal page and taking some time to read about what got me to sign up for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!
This isn't going to be the first time I've done the ride but this time I have another reason for helping raise money to find a cure. I was hesitant about doing something like this but also really wanted to show support to my dad who was diagnosed with leukemia back when I was in high school. In addition to showing support I wanted to show my gratitude for everything others have done in the past to help treat cancer and do my part to help create a future without cancer.
Back when I was in high school and my sister and I sat down with our parents that day they delivered the news I immediately thought the worst. The word cancer was frightening. I had no idea what was going to happen, and I didn’t think it was something that could be treated. Lucky for us it was caught early enough and the treatment was in the form of a pill. I would have never have thought that there was a pill for that!
The other reason that got me wanting to do this ride again was my Grandmother being diagnosed with lung cancer. The news hit me pretty hard. I didn’t know what to think and couldn’t help but worry about if she was able to overcome this. It was evident that the cancer was taking its toll on her as her health began to decline. Watching this happen was one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced in my life. She was the woman who looked after me while my parents went to work, picked me up from school, went for ice cream with in the summer, and brunch after church. The cancer spread faster than I could imagine.
I couldn’t imagine the struggles that others with cancer go through and want to do something so that hopefully one day they’ll never have to experience what so many others already have. So please support my ride by helping me raise funds for cancer research. Thank you all and God bless.
