SUPPORT MY RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER®
As many of you reading this know, two years ago I decided to give myself a second chance at a healthy life by getting back into the gym, giving up crappy food and just all together being more accountable for my personal health. This decision set in motion a year long journey of losing over 110 lbs and changed my life for the better.
Each summer since I began this journey I have decided to test myself by accomplishing something I previously wasn't able to do when I was overweight. After being embarrassed by my inability to climb The Grind and The Chief, I decided in the summer of 2015, these two hikes would be my challenge. I accomplished them both before the summer even began. Last year, I challenged myself with Tough Mudder and was able to complete every obstacle without problem. This year though, I decided to do something that would benefit others who have had their lives rocked by a devastating disease; this year I am riding to conquer cancer!
In my life, too many people close to me have been affected by cancer. When I was 16 I lost my grandfather to prostate cancer; it was the first time I had experienced loss like this in my life. I still remember the day, the moment, I found out. It sucked.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer presented by Silver Wheaton benefiting BC Cancer Foundation, is a two-day cycling journey, through the beautiful Pacific region taking place in the summer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
I am riding for those who can't, for my grandfather, my father, my family, my friends' family and everyone else I know who has had to battle, or watch someone battle, cancer. Please support me in my quest to honor their fight by donating today and helping me reach my goal of $3,000. Funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond.
