Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
I don't think there is anyone who hasn't been impacted by cancer in some way and I'm no different. My stepfather was diagnosed with cancer when I was about 4 years of age and some of my earliest memories are of him being very sick. He eventually succombed to this disease, dying when I was 10-years-old. Life went on and I never really thought about cancer until my mom was diagnosed with it about 15 years later. I clearly remember where I was and how I felt when I heard... it was shocking and upsetting to say the least. Fortunately, they were able to surgically remove the affected areas and she has been fine ever since; however, subsequently, several more relatives have been diagnosed with cancer.
Not only have I witnessed the effects of this disease, but I've also heard personal testimonials about what treatments, like chemotherapy and radiation, are like. While they can be very effective, it's hard for me to imagine that with current advancements in medicine, such as immunotherapy and precision medicine, that scientists will not in the near future find more effective treatments with less severe side effects. My hope is that my efforts in fundraising will contribute to their success in this regard.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer presented by Silver Wheaton benefiting BC Cancer Foundation, is a two-day cycling journey, through the beautiful Pacific region taking place in the summer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made! Contribute to this powerful movement with a donation. Funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond.
Thank you in advance for your help.
