My name is Harv, and I'm a Conquistador of Cancer
Please Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer
2017 will mark my first year as a Ride to Conquer Cancer® participant and I am fortunate to be welcomed to a great team, Conquistadors of Cancer. My journey on this epic ride will be one mixed of many basic emotions: anticipation, joy, sadness, and perhaps just a bit of fear. In just a few words I'm going to define how each category will play a role in both my personal and my team's experience.
That my path from Vancouver to Seattle will be rich with fellowship, encouragement, fun, and accomplishment.
Feeling the wind in my face and seeing the road move under my wheels is what cycling brings to my life.
This two day event will provide me with the time to reflect on family members I have lost; my mother with her battle to breast cancer in 1996, and more recently my aunt to myeloma in 2017.
Fear (just a little!)
Make no mistake, this is a long ride and although I will take every step to ensure completion, there's ever-present a dab of fear that my performance won't meet my expectations—then again I am known among friends for setting a very high bar for myself... but the most difficult part of this ride is the fundraising portion.
I have already raised the mandatory $2,500 donation as my contribution to the Ride to Conquer Cancer®, and have just met my revised goal of $3,000 -- now it's time to see how far we can go! It is not in the least bit part of my nature to ask for help, but in the spirit of good karma I humbly ask you to help me by donating whatever you can to see me reach new goals. In return for your donation, I pledge to conquer this ride and on your behalf, helping to raise funds for cancer research.
Thank you in advance for your donation, I appreciate each and every one of you!
