Help Bring a PET/CT Scanner to Vancouver Island!
Welcome to my Personal Page! The Ride to Conquer Cancer presented by Silver Wheaton benefiting BC Cancer Foundation, is a two-day cycling journey, through the beautiful Pacific region taking place in the summer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
This year, I am participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer in support of bringing PET/CT to Vancouver Island. By participating in the ride, I look to raise awareness of the efforts of the Functional Imaging Department at the BC Cancer Agency. Please consider supporting Team PET projeCT in bringing services PET/CT services directly to Vancouver Island.
PET/CT is an increasingly critical component in the diagnosis and management of disease. For cancer patients, PET/CT is used to help clinicians make an accurate and timely diagnosis as well as guide therapy.
In British Columbia, there are two PET/CT scanners located at the BC Cancer Agency in Vancouver. The Functional Imaging Program performs over 8000 patient scans every year, over 1300 of these patients are from Vancouver Island. Ideally, a PET/CT scanner would be located in Victoria, thereby alleviating the need to take a ferry to access this critical service. The goal of my campaign is to help bring a PET/CT scanner to Vancouver Island.
Funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer will support not only bringing a PET/CT scanner to Vancouver Island, but also life-saving research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond.
Thank you in advance for your help.
