Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
I am participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer because I want cancer to stop taking the lives of the people we love. I can’t make cancer go away, I can’t bring back the people it’s taken from me—but I can raise money for the BC Cancer Agency by getting on my bike this August.
I lost my beautiful sister, Lisa Smith, to a rare and deadly brain tumour, Glioblastoma Multiforme, on July 26, 2016.
I lost my radiant sister-in-law, Susan Parker, to Ovarian cancer on March 11, 2012. I have lost many other friends and relatives to cancer, as have most (if not all) of you reading this.
Great strides are being made in cancer research and lives are being saved thanks to the discoveries of the research team at the B.C. Cancer Agency and other organizations throughout the world. Outcomes for cancer diagnoses are improving. I am grateful that my husband, Ian, survived prostate cancer, and that my stepson, Emerson, survived childhood leukemia. I am grateful that my sister, Margo, survived breast cancer and will be riding beside me on team Courage for Lisa. It is a privilege to join my family and friends in this endeavour, and I am grateful to be able to do so.
Please consider making a contribution to this powerful movement. Funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at the B.C. Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond.
