Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Thanks for checking in to my personal page. Why do I ride? Cancer touches many people in many ways. It does not discriminate. The journey is never easy, full of emotional and physical upheaval and truly tests the strength, character and courage of all concerned.
Last year the unexpected sudden loss of a young co-worker to this insidious disease, along with more than a couple of my close family and friends battling cancer, left me feeling a certain absence of hope. Joining the Village Idiots Team and participating in The Ride was a way for me to face my discouragement and fears, and I got back in the saddle after a 5 year absence due to a severe cycling accident. I became part of a team, a group of strangers coming together, laughing, sharing, supporting and understanding the struggles that cancer presents to all involved. It was an experience that cannot be explained, not through pictures or stories, but it is something to be felt. I think a quote from Helen Keller sums it up well " Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of overcoming it" It would be my pleasure to be a part of this common thread again this year and with your help and my determination, I hope to raise $2500.00 towards the fight! Funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond.
Thank you in advance for your support.
