Please SUPPORT my ride in the Ride to Conquer Cancer to Seattle 2017
Well, never thought I'd be here again....
but here we are...
in the process of completing my SECOND ride!!!!
Again, this past year has been a bit of a roller coaster with complete logical and irrational thoughts! With that being said, I challenged myself to be more active, live a healthier life style and to make positive change. This is one aspect as to why I want and will ride again in this amazing event.
I am still living and following that one Facebook post I saw now 2 years ago, and in return, the outcome has given me so much more insight, more drive, more passion, new experiences, and more determination than ever.
The quote reads something this:
“You have not lived if you have not made friends with someone who does not speak the same language as yourself;
You have not lived if you do not try new things;
& you have not lived if you do not put yourself in uncomfortable situations.”
Being a person who likes structure, routine and familiarity, these things at first seemed overwhelming and complicated; BUT over the last 2 years I made a huge effort to continually adjust myself to be the best version of myself that I can be. I do have to admit though, there are some days easier than others, but I just keep telling myself - Mind over Matter! Mind over Matter! Mind over Matter!
I am doing this ride along side my husband (Dean) again in support of his parents who have both lost their lives to cancer. This world can be cruel, and with cancer unfortunately a part of this world, many of us can relate to the fact that cancer is one of those things that somehow affects everyone in some capacity or another.
In addition, I am now a part of Team Big Lug, Dean's buisness, and will be joining our team mates in making a statement, raising awareness and completing the ride together - as one team!
For me, cancer is a constant reminder that my future children will never have grandparents from Dean’s side of the family. Cancer is a constant reminder that I will never have in town family support on this journey we call life. Cancer is a reminder that is destroys families, friends, relationships and lives forever. Cancer has destroyed my life and more so, it has destroyed Dean’s life.
I want to ride to show my support for Dean and our fellow team mates, in remembrance of his parents and the many others who have been affected by this terrible disease. I want to show courage for the many people who in my personal life, who have fought, beat and lost to cancer.
My part is only a little in the big scheme of things... but I believe that my part is also a part that will hopefully raise more awareness, more funds and more support to be that one step closer to finally kicking cancer in the ass!
Thank you in advance for your support!
