Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Dear Family and Friends,
As you know, I recently lost a best friend as well as my sister in law to Ovarian Cancer. Their battles were short and devastating, and despite medical advancements, nothing seemed to work. Many of you similarly know the pain of feeling absolute helplessness and the impact of losing someone really close, and whose life ended much too soon. My sisters have now gone home, but I have committed to continue their battles. I'm not a scientist and can't find a cure on my own, but I can and will be participating in an event called The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation. Through this event, I can help prevent other families from having to struggle with this disease.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a two-day bike ride through the scenic Pacific Northwest. Am I crazy? Imagine me, riding two days in a row for 200 km with thousands of other people?! As you can imagine, riding that far is not going to be a simple feat for me, being now middle aged and overweight! I'll have to train and get in shape. But I'm excited that I can finally do something this big in the fight against cancer. I’m also proud that my daughter Robyn will be joining the ride, and we’ll be supporting the event as a family.
I know you understand why this is so important to me, and know why I'm asking for your financial support. Our goal is to raise $2500 each and I really hope you'll help us get there or hey, even beat it. I don’t usually ask my family and friends for money, but this cause and this event are very important and we have to address it collectively if we want to beat this disease. I am asking each of you to donate to me or Robyn Dignan (http://www.conquercancer.ca/goto/rodig) and if you can, we’ll achieve that goal. If you are unable to donate, I understand that your life may have other priorities right now but donate what you can, including your warm words of motivational support and encouragement. Every little bit helps. Remember, all proceeds benefit for the BC Cancer Foundation.
Click the link at the bottom of this email to donate to us online. You'll also find a printed donation form on my webpage, if you prefer. Thank you for your support our participation in the 2017 Ride to Conquer Cancer cycling event.
