Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
When Andrew Sweeny first approached me with doing the ride 2 years ago, I had every excuse in the book not to. But then he promised the weather conditions couldn’t be worse than the previous years and somehow I lost my mind I forgot all my reservations.
Unfortunately, we can no better predict the weather than we can change the wind...and boy oh boy, did it blow that year!
We can, however, predict some things: We’re all going to pay taxes, our parents will tick us off at some point, if we have children, they will make us feel guilty for being ticked with our parents, and at least one person in our lives will be diagnosed with Cancer.
It’s important to me that you note I used “diagnosed with” and not “died from.” A few years ago, had I been writing this very same message to you, there’s an excellent possibility I would’ve used the latter. But by the grace, talents and brilliance of the people that band together to raise awareness and money to put toward treatments and research, not every cancer diagnoses is a death sentence.
The list of people I’ve lost is long and painful. But the list of survivors is growing. I’d like to keep that momentum going strong.
I’m asking for your help. Please donate what you can. Maybe even dig a little deeper. Let’s work as a team, me and you, to kick cancer to the curb.
