Determined to keep fighting!
My mama, my kids' nonna. She was and still is one-in-a-million. She is very much a part of our everyday lives - our conversations, the clothes that she bought for my kids that they are still wearing, the waves of grief that still strike us - my daughter Sofia especially who spent many days of her first 6 years of life with her nonna. It's amazing really, how powerful memories can be. How I can sink so deep into them that I feel like I just spent the afternoon with my mom. This bike ride helps me remember too. It helps me remember the last thing I told her minutes before she closed her eyes forever. I told her that I was so proud of her - how brave she was to get to that moment. She nodded with such confidence and affimation (she couldn't talk anymore at that point). So that is why I am riding - for my mom of course, and all those who have found their brave, or are still trying to find it, amidst this terrible disease. I will ride once again this year with a tear-streaked face as I look all around me at the thousands who have had to find a new level of brave.
Please consider giving to support this essential cause. I truly believe in the research - better treatment and ultimately a cure.
Many thanks to you, my friends and family
