Welcome to my Personal Ride to Conquer Page!
This year I've decided to do The Ride to Conquer Cancer to help raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation. The Ride is a two-day cycling journey, from Vancouver down to Seattle taking place August 27th and 28th! Here's a video for a bit more insight into the Ride https://vimeo.com/29010130.
Since deciding to do the Ride I've had the chance to speak to a lot of family and friends about why I'm riding and now I'd like to share it with you. I'm doing the Ride because I'm shocked and amazed:
I'm shocked and if I'm being candid truely scared, as I realize cancer can affect anyone. Over the last two years my Grandpa and two of my cousins were diagnosed with various forms of cancer. While one of my cousins is now cancer free (whoop whoop!) my other cousin and grandfather are still battling. I'm also shocked that almost everyone I've had the chance to talk about the Ride with has someone sometimes multiple people in their family or friends that are or have been affected by cancer in one way or another.
Whether you're 86, 28 or even younger, cancer can affect any one of us and that's the scary trough that keeps us motivated to get out and raise funds every year for such a noble cause.
I'm amazed in the support and enhancements in care the BC Cancer Foundation continues to provide, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond. I'm amazed that the Ride has raised over $70 million dollars for the BC Cancer Foundation!
This campaign has made me feel inspired. Inspired by my fellow riders, inspired by my Grandpa's and cousins determination, and inspired by the wonderful people like you who continue to support this powerful movement to beat cancer. On August 27th and 28th this inspiration will help fuel my 200+ km ride.
Thank you for your help battling cancer. You continue to amaze me.
With love and hope,
