Riding in Memory and in Support
Thank you for your contribution to my ride in memory of Louise Hill and in support of Kelly Etsell and Jenny Nerpio
In memory of Louise Hill - I recently attended the memorial service of my childhood best freind's mother, Louise Hill. This service was very powerful me for me. Eric spoke about his mother and said that she embodied "acceptance, surrender, and gratitude". And in honour of her Mohawk heritage, he asked us to take something of her with us as she passed from one world to the next. I have hung onto 'accceptance, surrender, and gratitude' ever since. Louise lived her life in servcie of other with 30+ years as an addictions councilor, an area close to my heart. She was a big part of my childhood, being there for us at school and swimming lessons and always with a warm smile and hug.
In suport of Kelly Etsell and Jenny Nerpio - This year I had two freinds undergo treatment and/or procedure to treat and remove cancer tumors. Both of these people tackled thier challenge with dtregth and grace and I was inspired by each. This year I would like to ride in support of both of these women. To let them know BABE YOU GOT THIS!
In 2015 I dedicated my ride to Lynn Chapman, my good friend's mother, who was taken quickly and unexpectedly from. Lynn always treated me like a son even though she had three of her own and I was always inspired by her and her accomplishments. She raised her three boys by herself while achieving a high level as a physiotherapist. She was a beautiful 'old school Whistler' soul and had a tremendous passion, which she shared with her boys, for riding Whistler.
