Cancer is a deadly disease that has affected too many of us. It really hurts when I think of the wonderful people in my life that are dealing with it. But these people also inspire me to do the job I do.
Working at the BC Cancer Foundation, I am able to see first-hand the groundbreaking research taking place at the BC Cancer Agency. There have been tremendous breakthroughs in the past few years - many of them are a direct result of the funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
I have ridden the event two years in a row. The first year included a torential downpour and hurricane winds. The second year had sunshine and clear skies. Both of them were full of emotion and inspiration for the two thousand of us who made it from Vancouver to Seattle.
The Ride is challenging and life changing for so many. It's amazing to have so many people pointing their wheels in the same direction - toward a future free of cancer.
