Hello acquaintances, friends and family,
I've decided to do The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation. It's a two-day cycling journey from Vancouver to Seattle comprising a total of 250 kilometres. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but I’m privileged to be able to do this ride and help raise funds for cancer research.
I'm going to be dedicating this ride to my father who passed away from colon cancer in 1999 as well as one of my oldest friends, someone I’ve known for more than 45 years, Gail McIntosh. Gail has just wrapped up 21 treatments of chemotherapy, undergone extensive abdominal surgery and beaten back her ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer research and advancements lag behind cancers which needs to change.
Gail has dedicated her career to educating children and hopes to get back to the classroom once she is given the endorsement of her cancer care team. She's been raising two teenagers on her own and has faced her diagnosis, treatment and recovery with humour and optimism.
Although the history and attempts to understand and control cancer have been littered with disappointments many significant advances suggest we are on the cusp of a brighter era of cancer care and research. The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a great way to contribute to a brighter future for those facing Cancer.

On behalf of those who have lost their fight and for those in the midst of treatment, we thank you!
