Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Welcome to my Personal Page! The Ride to Conquer Cancer presented by Silver Wheaton benefiting BC Cancer Foundation, is a two-day cycling journey, through the beautiful Pacific region taking place in the summer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
For the fourth year in a row now, on the third weekend in August, I will be participating in this 250km ride with over 2,500 other cyclists from Vancouver to Seattle.
Three years ago, I joined the BC Cancer Foundation as a Board Member, and in that year I did my first ride. Like so many others, Cancer has hit close to home for me on several occasions. On a sad note, my grandfather lost his battle with Cancer just a little over a year ago; but on a more positive note my mother continues to battle, despite being diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer over 8 years ago. Both have benefitted from ongoing treatment through the BC Cancer Agency right here in BC. It is for these people as well as those who will be diagnosed in the future that I joined the board, and it is the reason I ride. To help raise money for this important cause.
The bar has been set high and I need your help! All participants must raise at least $2,500, but I've set my personal goal $5,000. Please consider a meaningful donation that will help me on my way to meeting this important goal.
Please use the link at the bottom of this email to go visit my personal donation webpage, and please take the time to support me. Please keep in mind the commitment I'm making to end this heartbreaking disease and the personal efforts I'll have to make to accomplish this.
All the proceeds will go to BC Cancer Agency to support cancer research, treatment, and services. BC Cancer Agency is a leading comprehensive institution devoted to cancer research and care, and the work they're doing is cutting-edge. Importantly, the work they are doing not only goes to benefit patients here in BC; much of the work they do is having an impact around the world.
According to the Canadian Cancer Statistics, 171,000 new cases of cancer and 75,300 deaths from cancer occurred in 2009. The information also shows that over 45% of men and 40% of women will develop cancer in their lifetime and 1 in all 4 Canadians will die of cancer. That's why I'm riding. To do something BIG about cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
