SUPPORT MY RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER(R)
This is my 4th year of involvement with the Ride to Conquer Cancer and I’m asking if you’d again consider supporting me as I ride this very worthwhile fund raising bike ride from Cloverdale BC to Redmond WA on the weekend of August 26-27/2017, a distance of about 255 km.
The day before New Year’s Eve, during a visit to the Surrey Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Clinic, I was told “You have small cell carcinoma, source unknown”. This was my second run-in with cancer, the first was in 2012.
On January 17/2017 I started Chemotherapy treatment. Each treatment consisted of chemo on 3 days during the first week while the drug was being administered intravenously followed by 2 weeks ‘off’ for a total of four Rounds. I’ve now completed that chemo treatment I am happy to say.
Since mid-February I’ve ridden my road bike on a trainer, usually twice a week and on warmer days when it wasn’t raining I have taken the bike out on the road for a 15 - 20 mile ride. Now that my chemo treatments are complete, in the weeks and months ahead I’ll be increasing my riding distances so that I’ll be able to handle the 255 km 2 day ride to Redmond WA. I hope you will ride with me in spirit as you have done in the past.
Thank you for your continued support.
