Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Hi Friends and Family!
Thank you for visiting my RTCC fundraising page!
The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a 2 day cycling challenge starting in Cloverdale *very* early on August 26th and finishing (most likely with a few tears from varying emotions!) late in the day on August 27th. The funds raised through the Ride to Conquer Cancer will support life-saving research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency, bringing hope to cancer patients in B.C. and beyond.
On May 25, my friend Sheryl passed away after an almost 5 year battle with breast cancer. She was amazing: positive, brave, determined to fight the cancer as hard as she could, with the goal of living life to the fullest in spite of her diagnosis, in which she certainly succeeded. I was so fortunate to have seen her the day before she died: she was chatty, laughing and loving being with her friends and family in spite of the fact she was so sick in palliative care. If you want to read more about Sheryl's journey she kept a blog about her experience:
While I know that chemotherapy is a brutal experience, it (sometimes along with radiation and other therapies) has meant that my mom is cancer free almost 10 years, Rachel is fine, Wendy survived breast cancer, D's dear mom has survived two different cancers, my cousin Rob, Irene, my Uncle John, a friend of the family and a fellow high school graduate Christie...all these people are survivors because of the treatment they received from cancer agencies in BC and Alberta...I'm sure there are more people I know but that I can't think of right now, and I'm sure there are people in your life who've battled cancer too.
I am doing the ride this year because of these dear people. I am doing the ride this year in Sheryl's honor and memory.
If you can support me, I would be very grateful!
Thank you :)
