SUPPORT MY RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER(R)
Welcome to my Personal Page! It's that time of year again.
First of all thank-you to all of you who donated last year and the years before that.
I can barely believe it but this will be my 4th year in a row participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Last year's ride was one for the ages. It was not as treacherous as the ride in 2015 but I did have a few memorable experiences. I joined the Silver Wheaton Team which was a great experience as there were just over 30 riders on the team. I really enjoyed riding with this group and will be doing so again this year. After having my bike tuned up just before the ride, my rear derailer cable snapped which left me with only my most difficult gear as we approached Bellingham. Much of the last mile or so is uphill. On the second day I also took a spill which was a little scary but despite a few bumps and bruises and a cracked helmet I was fine.
For those of you who are new to the Ride to Conquer Cancer it is a two-day cycling journey, from Vancouver to Seattle taking place this August 26-27. It is a challenge in a number of ways, but with your generosity, a real impact will be made! Most people have in some way been affected by this horrible disease. This last year has been a diffcult year for people that I know. My uncle passed away from cancer and a cousin is still dealing with brain cancer. I also am happy to say that my dad, Peter, who was diagnosed with Lymphoma over 7 years ago is still doing very well. I know that if it were not for the advances made in treatments, specifically in the last few years, he would not still be alive. Because of stories like his and others I decided that I wanted to continue to be involved and do my part to help raise money and raise awareness for the search for a cure, and make you aware of how you too can participate and help in finding a cure by donating to this event.
Please contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care made possible through BC Cancer Foundation, a leader in cancer research and care.
Thank you in advance for your help.
PS No video from last year but if I can figure out how to do it I will try to include a picture of me after the ride last year.
