March 15, 2012, my 46 year old husband lost his life to cancer. Since then Team Gilby has cycled to Seattle Five years in a row and collectively raised over $315,000 for the BC cancer Foundation.
During these years and countless hours on my bike, I have come to realize that I don't ride "in memory" of Sean. In my heart, what I ride for is to carry forth what I believe his deepest wish would be: for no other person or family to face the pain and loss that cancer inflicted on all of us. My husband was a selfless and very courageous man, very proud too. I'm not sure that seeing us ride with his childhood nickname, across our chest and butts, on our team uniforms, would really thrill him. But I do know that he would smile down upon us knowing that we were working hard to stop the destruction cancer causes. I know Sean is proud.
In 2017 we will ride 240Km, over two days and under sunny skies, from Vancouver to Seattle. My fundraising dollars will go specifically to support research on gastrointestinal cancers. Please support Team Gilby and I as we Ride to Conquer cancer in August 2017.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Ride on Team Gilby!
