Welcome to My Personal Page
On August 26 and 27, 2017, I will be taking part in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. This is a unique, two day cycling event to raise money for the BC Cancer Foundation. The Ride starts in the Vancouver area of BC and culminates in Seattle, Washington. The total distance is around 245 kilometres.
2 in 5 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Almost all of us have a story to tell about someone we know who has battled, or is battling, this devastating disease. This will be the second time I have participated in the Ride – the first time was in 2012. In 2012, I participated for two main reasons: firstly, to show support for my mum who was fighting a rare form of abdominal cancer and secondly, to do my bit for the broader fight. Well, my mother is still here and is quite active, partly due to her phenomenal determination but also thanks to the amazing work of the medical staff that have been caring for her. But since 2012, my family has lost a friend to breast cancer, another is beginning her fight and my uncle has been diagnosed. And my mum keeps fighting. There is still much to be done.
The funds raised through the Ride enable the BC Cancer Foundation to support cancer research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency. The funds are put to use immediately; I strongly encourage you to go to the following web page to see details of the achievements of the BC Cancer Agency since the Ride began:
The money raised by the Ride is used to do excellent work with tangible results.
To participate in the 2017 Ride, I need to raise a minimum of $2,500 for the BC Cancer Foundation. Please consider making a donation, however big or small. Every donation is very much appreciated. Just click the donate button on this page. Thank you!
