SUPPORT MY RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER(R)
For the 7th year I'll be particpating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Last year was one of the few times weather actually cooperated. Sunny skies and warm weather made for such a memorable ride. No matter the conditions, this is such an important event that I look forward to each year. It is an amazing experience over 2 days seeing people of all ages and biking experience do something of this magnitude. When considering the previous years conditions we faced or the problems we think we have, it is nothing compared to what is faced when someone is told they have cancer.
Most people have had cancer affect their lives in one way or another. My first realization with cancer and the impact this terrible disease has on someone's life was in 1991 when my niece was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. She was 5 years old at the time and fought courageously but in the end, she lost her battle. I ride for not only the many I know who are fighting the disease and are winning, but for the ones who lost their battle. I played hockey with Tom Davies and he lost his battle in 2013 and an Olympic teammate Craig Roberts lost his battle in 2006.
There are times when you think there is no hope for this disease, but there are success stories. My mother is a survivor and it provides hope that one day everyone will be a "survivor" to the disease. Everyday there are more and more survivor stories.
For those who have taken the time to read my profile, my daughter again requested money rather than presents for her 12th birthday party so that she can donate to the Ride. This is the 4th year she has done this and has said she wants to do the ride with me one day or volunteer. Now my youngest daughter has taken up the cause and will be asking for donations for her 10th birthday party.
Last year I was able to reach my goal of 3,000 and with your help I know we can do it again!
I appreciate your contribution, any amount will make a difference and help the cause!
Thank you in advance for your help.
