Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer
Welcome to my page for the 2017 Ride. This will be my 8th ride, and this will be another year where I hear of adults and children diagnosed with cancer. The good news is that I know my efforts, and the efforts of everyone signed up to do the ride make a difference.
Sadly, that difference is coming too late for far too many people. People I know. People you know. So once again I am asking for donations, large or small, whatever you can give. Every donation counts, and helps.
Many of you already know Brynne's story. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour at age three and fought a courageous battle for three years before passing away, most of it with a smile on her face and in her heart. I would like for one day to know that families in the same situation we were in can be told that there is a cure for their child's disease.
Members of my family in addition to Brynne have battled cancer. My mother, my grandfather, aunts, uncles, cousins, my wife's family, former classmates and friends in the community. Every time I hear of another it makes me sad. But it also makes me grit my teeth. And makes me want to ride because this ride will make a difference.
There are other diseases of course, too many it seems. If you have a cause that you support I urge you to continue. If you don't, or if Brynne's story has touched you, I welcome your support. Our time with Hannah's Heroes Foundation (www.hannahsheroes.com) has shown us that the research happening at the BC Cancer Agency and BC Children's Hospital is making positive strides in the area of pediatric brain tumours.
I plan to do this Ride 25 times. I have seven behind me. 18 to go.
Thank you in advance for your help.
