Welcome to my Personal Page
This is going to be my 9th Ride to Conquer Cancer.
When I first decided to ride in 2009, Our first daughter was only two years old. It was my hope that by committing to this event, I would help create a world where she would never have to understand what cancer is. Well, now that she is older, she knows exactly what cancer is. And not too long from now, our second daughter will know too. They hear us talk about those we know and love having to fight it – or worse – having lost their fight with it.
So, now what do I say to my girls when they ask me why ride? The same thing I would say to you… Because we are slowly, but surely, beating cancer. Yes, cancer is still out there, and it is still a devastating and frightening disease. But, we are making progress… Over the past eight years, I’ve seen the results of BC Cancer Agency’s research… Earlier detection, more refined, targeted treatments, and better care. I’ve also seen what cancer does to people, and now is definitely not the time to give up.
I can ride a bike, and I can raise money – so I will. And that’s what I will tell my daughters. My new goal… To inspire them enough that they'll want to ride with me – but, by the time they are old enough, they won’t have to!
Please help me help the BC Cancer Foundation continue their great work. Every penny is greatly appreciated and goes to where it’s needed most, as soon as it is donated.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and for reading my story. I encourage you to read the stories of others on this website. Some are sad, others are encouraging, all are important.
