We are Team RBC and we want to do our part to help fight one of the most devastating and pervasive diseases of our lifetimes. We have an opportunity to make a difference and to save lives. The statistics are startling:
2 in 5 Canadians will experience cancer in their lifetime 1 in 4 Canadians will die from cancer
Many of us have already been affected by the disease in one way or another. Between friends, family and colleagues, cancer strikes all ages, ethnicities and demographics. If we consider that most of us come from households of four to five people, the prevalence of cancer truly hits close to home.
So this brings about an excellent question: What can we do?
For the weekend of August 26-27th, 2017 we will be riding from Vancouver to Seattle in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Along with thousands of other riders, we will embark on a two day journey which will traverse over 210km, to fundraise for a world free from cancer. Since its inception in 2009, the Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised over $70 million in support of cancer research.
The donations to the Ride benefit the B.C. Cancer Foundation, funding everything from ground breaking research to the development of new technologies. Every dollar raised gets us one step closer to a cure. It is here in B.C. that we are making these breakthroughs today.
Please consider joining our team as a rider or make a donation to this important cause.
Thank you for your support,
-Team RBC Riding Bikes for Cancer
