Welcome to My Personal Page
Welcome to my Ride page!
After 2 years of not doing the ride and after the year Peter and I have just been through I have decided to do my part to help rid this dirty, filthy, rotten disease from our existance. To tell the truth I am just so fed up with my loved ones having to battle this crap I just have to do something. Many of you know the love of my life and my best friend Peter Cassey was diagnosed with laryngial cancer in Nov. 2016. After going through 6 weeks of the most horrendous, aggressive radiation treatments and let me tell you it was not pretty, we found the cancer didn't want to let go and surgery was necessary. May 31st 2017 my husband had a total thyroidectomy and laryngectomy, our lives as we knew it would never be the same again. I will never hear my husbands voice saying "I love you", he will never sing again which was one of his passions. Yes he can communicate thanks to cancer research he has a voice prosthesis which allows him to talk but it's not easy to master and it has it's challenges. Peter also no longer breaths through his nose he is now what they call a "neck breather" so his sense of smell is gone as well. I know this sounds all negative and woe is me but it's reality and Peter is a very strong man and we are doing well. But this is what cancer does and we are one of the lucky ones there are many who are alot worse off. We were truly humbled by the support and prayers we recieved this past year; you, our friends and family, have been there and helped us through this and we thank you for it. Now I have to ask for your help again and I know you will support my ride if you can. I have to raise a minimum $2,500.00 to ride June 9 & 10 from Toronto to Niagara Falls, 200+KM. Many of you think wow that's a long way to ride and you are right but it is nothing compared to what cancer puts its victims through. In the past I rode for my Dad, Mom, my Uncles and my dear friend Karen all who lost their battles with cancer and for all my friends and their families who have and are fighting for their lives. I am still riding for all these people but this year I will be focusing on my husband Peter and his strength and tenacity to fight back.
I have requested the funds I raise will go directly to head and neck cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre but of course if you would like your donation to be directed to another area of cancer research at Princess Margret, I believe you have a choice to choose where your donation goes.
Funds raised through The Ride directly benefit Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world, and will move us closer to our vision of conquering cancer in our lifetime.
I've already got my bike and helmet, but to guarantee my Ride success, I need your help today!
Thank you for your support,
