Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer!
On June 17th, 2007, after a courageous two and a half year battle against cancer which included a number of surgeries and many rounds of chemo, my beloved husband Tony passed away. He was being treated at the Jewish General Hospital in what was at the time a very new cancer centre. The new Centre was great but the support and compassion the staff showed us is what made the difference. They truly made us feel like we were not fighting our battle alone.
My youngest son, Mathieu, also has FAP (familial adenomatous polyposis) which is the disease that caused my husband’s cancer. Because about 99% of FAP patients develop colon cancer, as a preventative measure, Mathieu had his colon removed the year after his father passed away. He was eleven years old. He is now 20 years old and has graduated from the Children`s Hospital to the Jewish General for his yearly exams and follow-ups including blood tests, ultrasounds, sygmoidoscopy, endoscopy and visits to the gastroenterologist, dermatologist, endocrinologist and geneticist.
I am supporting the JGH so that they can continue to support us and provide my son with the best possible care…
Help me help them!
The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital is a cycling journey through Quebec`s countryside that I`m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of way, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
Contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary reaching, and compassionate care at the Jewish General Hospital.
Thank you in advance for your help!
