Welcome to my Personal Page
To all my friends,
I have decided to join a great group of individuals to cycle 200 km from Montreal to Quebec City with the goal of raising funds for Cancer research.
We all have personal reasons for taking on this endeavor.
Why am I cycling?
For all the brave men and women (young and old) that have been afflicted by this terrible disease.
For all the remarkable individuals that have dedicated their lives to helping treat and understand this disease.
For all those who have lost their battle and have left us way too early.
For all those who are currently fighting.
For the survivors, who have won the fight but are unable to stop worrying.
For the families and friends who are accompanying their loved ones through the ups and downs.
For my beautiful brave Mom.
Although we have come a long way in understanding this disease many questions remain.
Here is what we know for sure.
On average, 524 Canadians are diagnosed with cancer every day.
On average, 210 Canadians will die from cancer every day.
2 out of every 5 Canadian are expected to develop cancer during their lifetime.
1 out of every 4 Canadians is expected to die from cancer.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada
There is hope.
Research continues to move us closer to the day when most cancers will be curable and the others will be treated as a chronic disease. Although we are close we still have lots of work to do. We have no time to waste. Technological advances are helping our doctors and researchers understand what causes cancer, how it develops, how to prevent it and how to treat it. In the meantime, we need to continue to improve the quality of life of those affected by cancer.
Thank you for your support.
