Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer
Welcome to my Personal Page! The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital is a 230km cycling journey through Quebec’s countryside that I’m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!
Why do I participate in the Ride to Conquer Cancer?
For me, it is to attain several objectives.
I do it to change my lifestyle. The first goal is an endurance test. It is a physical test just of more than 200km in two days. I have a real passion for cycling but this is not the most important goal.
I do it for the research against cancer. This second objective is to help raise funds for an organization in which I deeply believe. I met wonderful people who have unfortunately succumbed to this terrible disease. For them, and especially for those who have the chance to overcome it one day, the personal time and efforts that I spend raising funds and training are simple tasks compared to the life threatening fight that our loved ones face against this terrible disease. Unfortunately, it will affect too many people during their lives.
I do it to bring people together. My third goal is to gather people and work as team to improve our collectivce lives. That's why I created the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) cycling team. The creation of this team is my personal achievement. I managed to get a special sponsorship from the Institute. I mostly recruit my teammates amongst the 53,000 members that are located from coast to coast. Some will say that putting public servants on bicycles is a huge task, they, sometimes, will be right ... ;-)
Finally, I do for Julie. This is my most important objective. On 9 June 2015, my wife Julie was disgnosed with breast cancer. I was already engaged in the 2015 adventure when this news fell on us. Julie had a double mastectomy on July 8, 2015, less than 3 days prior to the 2015 Ride to Conquer cancer. It was the beginning of a year filled with ups and downs. For her, do all the rides I can!
Naturally, I do it for my family, my friends, my colleagues, my friends' families, families of my colleagues and all those who will unfortunately suffer from this terrible disease.
I need your support!
Help me change the course of history by making a donation. Funds raised through this, and future, Rides will go to support innovative research, quality education and care programs to be provided by the Segal Cancer Centre at the Jewish General Hospital and their partners throughout Québec.
Thank you in advance for your support.
