Help us conquer cancer
This is not Stephan writing to you. This is his wife Connie.
This is his 5th year riding in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Stephan and the K-Team have raised over $130,000 for research into cancer treatments.
If you know Stephan, you probably already know why he rides. If you don’t, then….
…In 2012, my then 15 yr old daughter Kayla was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and had to endure 4 months of chemotherapy and the many side affects like lose of hair, nausea, etc… Thankfully today, 5 years later, she is cancer free. Not cured because there isn’t a “cure” for cancer but she’s cancer-free, attending college, working part-time and doing normal things for a 20-year-old girl.
Then, just as we thought life was back to normal, last year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Underwent a partial mastectomy and over 20 treatments of radiation. Again, very lucky, I am cancer-free and live a full life and enjoy the company of my family and friends.
But enough about the patients, let’s talk about the man who was by our side through the worse moments of our lives. Stephan was always very positive in getting our spirits up through some horrible times. He came to every appointment and if he could, would follow us to the ends of the earth to fight cancer!
I once told my daughter how courageous and brave she was to undergo chemotherapy and she replied “Why am I brave? All I did was lay down in a hospital bed as doctors/nurses administered the treatment.” And I think I know what she meant. When faced with a diagnosis like cancer, the only thing you can do is what the professionals tell you to do…what you have to do to survive! What other choice do you have?
So in my opinion, Stephan and K-Team are the brave heroes because they do have a choice and they choose to raise money and ride their bikes from Montreal to Quebec City, over 250 kms, in 2 days to fight cancer. I am so proud of my husband and all he’s done for my children and me, and how he’s chosen to help fight this disease in the last 5 years.
Unfortunately this terrible disease continues to hurt friends, family and business colleagues, research will one day get rid of this ugly beast.
Please, if you can, make a donation to this cause….The Ride to Conquer Cancer…so maybe one day there will be a cure for cancer and nobody has to watch loved ones go through this.
