Welcome to Jarrid’s Team page
Jarrid Albert Rich, father of two young children, lost his battle with cancer on March 7, 2013. He was only 28 years of age.
Jarrid had a rare form of sarcoma lung cancer which was diagnosed in 2010. He fought through extensive chemotherapy and surgeries and astounded family and friends by riding in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2011 and 2012.
Jarrid was a hero and warrior who courageously last rode in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2012, just six weeks after chemotherapy without even being able to train for the ride. He was honoured to be the inspirational speaker at the 2012 Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer - Opening Cermonies, encouraging all to ride together to face the challenges head on in contributing to find a cure for cancer.
Jarrid’s passion to give back and “pay it forward” to find a cure for cancer and support others is a remarkable legacy. To honour him, Jarrid’s Team continues to ride on and we welcome riders of all abilities to join our team so together we can help find a cure for all cancers and support those we all know that have or are facing the challenges of cancer today.
2015 – 2016 were difficult rides for our team. In 2015 we lost Glyn Hughes after his courageous battle with cancer. Glyn was a dedicated to finding a cure, he was our speed rider who supported our team in excelling to becoming the best riders we could be. He made us laugh inspite of the challenges he endured. We are honoured to ride in Glyn’s memory.
Also two of our riders Cathy Kidd and Doug Munn were diagnosed with cancer. They both had chemo and radition therapy. Amazingly they were able to ride in 2016. Their courage in facing their cancer challenges is an incredibile inspiration to our team and supporters. Cathy continued home chemo for the next year. Sadly Cathy lost her battle with cancer in June 2017
We’re here because we know that cancer is too big a disease to ignore. It affects everyone, maybe you, me, our parents, kids, siblings or friends. But, by riding or volunteering for the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer on August 18th and 19th 2018, we are together doing something about it in a very special way. We’re rolling closer and closer to the end of cancer. It’s an awesome triumph in a physical sense and emotionally as well.
So hey, join us! This can be your opportunity to do something challenging and rewarding in so many ways. And you won’t do it alone. We will be doing training rides, helping each other, and generating awareness for critical cancer research at the Alberta Cancer Foundation, a leader in cancer research and treatment.
Since 2012 Jarrid's Team has raised approximately $ 200,000.
Please help us support cancer research and treatment by donating and or joining our team!
Thank you for your support as “together we pay it forward”
