SUPPORT MY RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER
Hello Friends and Family,
This is year 4 of doing the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Linnea's Legion has grown to over 30 riders. I'm so proud to have more peole joining in the fight against this terrible disease. Each rider has their own personal reasons for this journey. In the last year alone, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, a friend was diagnosed with uterine cancer, a friend's dad was diagnosed with colon cancer, another friend's mom passed away from breast cancer. Cancer has a reach that knows no bounds. It does not discriminate between age, gender, or race. And it has touched everyone I know. Statistics say that 1 in 2 people will be touched by cancer. That is a staggering and scary number. Who will be next?
Have you ever felt helpless? Felt like you wanted to do something, to say something, anything, to make it better? The truth is, no words can erase the pain that both cancer patients, cancer survivors, or cancer patient caregivers endure on a daily basis. So what can we as bystanders do? We can help to support those who are involved in groundbreaking research, developing cancer drugs and treatments that DO make a difference. It may be too late for some, but why not give others a chance so that they do not have to go through the heartache that some of us have had to?
As in many things in life, there will be challenges that knock us down. What makes a difference is making the choice to get up again, despite the weight of hardships, and carry on, doing what we can to improve ourselves and enrich the lives of those around us, just as there are people who also enrich our lives.
If you've been touched by cancer as I have, if you have wanted to help but don't know how, consider making a donation to this great and worthy cause. For yourself, for your mom, sister, friend, co-worker, aunt, niece. Even for the ones you don't know. We can all help lift each other up, and together, we CAN and we WILL conquer cancer. We just have to keep fighting, and never give up.
Love and Hugs,
Bea and Mike
