Team Tumornator was created 6 years ago by Matthew Striepe, and what an incredible 6 years of riding it has been! Over the years the team has had various members all pedalling to raise funds for cancer research in support of those they love affected by cancer. The first year saw Matthew's sister AnneMarie join the team in riding for their mom, who battled Stage IV cancer and has now been cancer free for 5years with her initial diagnosis 10years ago! Zach Tidsbury also rode on the team for the loved ones in his life effected by this terrible disease. The second year of Team Tumornator in 2013, Dana Striepe joined the team and rode for a dear family friend Colin Rolseth, who battled prostate cancer for 13yrs and sadly lost his battle shortly after the ride in September 2013. He is dearly missed and we think of him often when we get on our bikes to help conquer cancer. Jason & Amber Potter also joined the team in 2013 riding for their family members affected by cancer, and we had such a great time on the hills together! An amazing branch off of Team Tumornator was created in Ontario with Matthew's sister creating Team Tumornator II and riding with many friends for the same cause of raising funds for cancer research and development. In 2014 the team grew to include more family members with Matthew, his father Dieter, Dana and her father Glenn riding for Team Tumornator... and every year the reasons and people to ride for continue to grow including a new diagnosis of lymphoma for Matthew's Grandfather Jack. In 2015 the team grew to include Gay Fischbuch who stepped in to ride for Matthew's mom Moira after she incurred an injury while starting to train for the ride. Dieter and Matthew continued on pedaling for cancer research. Last year Team Tumornator rode for Dana and Jolin’s sister Tannis who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma on February 23, 2016. Tannis’s sister Jolin is also riding in 2017 in support of Tannis and all others fighting cancer. Joining the team as well this year is Rianne Vanderburg who is riding for her Uncle who passed away from cancer on June 16, 2017 after a short diagnosis. We also have Carl Nield riding with us this year for this important cause. Team Tumornator in 2017 is now 7 riders strong. The far reaching effects of cancer unfortunately know no bounds, but we are going to continue to pedal to raise funds to help those fighting the hard fight of treatment and recovery!
Team Tumornator here in Alberta and Team Tumornator II in Ontario have raised over $85,000 for cancer research and development in a short 5years!! What an incredible accomplishment and source of pride for all those involved with the team over the years. Although we all ride for various loved ones, the common denominator of battling cancer exists between all team members and all riders across Canada in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Please consider donating generously to this important cause as it is unfortunately only a matter of time until someone you love is battling this disease.
Thank you,Team Tumornator2012-2017 and counting
